Deals and Some Sad News!

Hello my DOD friends. Another week has flown by and here it is Thursday again already. I am looking forward to a peaceful and quiet weekend, WITH NO COMPANY for a change. I just need a break and some relaxation time. We have had company for the past several weekends in a row with my friends car wreck and all. With our son our of town, Andy and I were really hoping for some time to relax and spend some quality time together, plus maybe get in some family visiting time with some relatives we haven't seen for a long time. I have already been informed that when we go down to pick up Tom at the end of the month, I have many relatives that want us to stop in because we haven't visited them in a long time either.

I just need a break and some relaxation time. We have had company for the past several weekends in a row with my friends car wreck and all. With our son our of town, Andy and I were really hoping for some time to relax and spend some quality time together, plus maybe get in some family visiting time with some relatives we haven't seen for a long time. I have already been informed that when we go down to pick up Tom at the end of the month, I have many relatives that want us to stop in because we haven't visited them in a long time either.

Our son, Tom, is having a great time at Pappy's, though he does find the time they spend at home to be a little boring since Pappy does not have TV like we do. We have digital cable on two TVs and regular on two other TVs, so there is almost always something on, however, for the Summer, I much prefer he get up and get some exercise and spend some more time outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Far too many kids spend their time sitting in their homes, watching TV or playing video games. When I was a kid, we never dreamed of that, if we even had TVs to watch, we were out all day, almost every day, rain or shine! My friends mother had to keep on of those huge triangles hanging on her porch, and that is the only way she could let us know when it was lunch or dinner time, she couldn't holler loud enough to reach us, and a trek to hunt us down, would take far too much time. You could never know for sure where we kids would end up and what we would be doing, in the Summer they just kept the garden hose outside for a quick dirt spray off and hand scrub before eating, and we usually ate on their enclosed porch to avoid tracking the mess in the house. Now, some days, it takes all I can to convince him and his friends to even leave the TV long enough to take a ride to the store. Times sure have changed!

Unfortunately my DOD friends, I also have some sad news today, our friend and long-time member Daiquiri, whose real name is Sandy, passed away last night. She had been in the hospital for over 2 months after complications that arose from a planned surgery. There is a thread started in GCC by tlspiegel where you can express your condolences:
