Oklahoma Spring Weather

Oklahoma Spring Weather

As usual the Oklahoma weather is so incredibly unpredictable, one minute the skys are bright and sunny and before you know it there are clouds and thunder and lightning, or warnings of tornados.

One day is cold and the next is like summer. You are never quite sure how to dress.
The other night we had the most horrible Hail Storm I had ever seen. After staying awake and watching the weather on our news channels and checking the paths of the storm it seemed like it was all going to
go around us and that we were actually going to miss the bad stuff.....
Well after almost dozing off and resting it was like WOAH! At 2am There was hail slightly smaller than golf balls pounding our house and cars! EEKS! It sounded horrible on the windows of our house like you wondered if the glass was going to break.

I have never seen hail like that and for such a length of time. It looked like we had a huge ice dispenser drop down on everything it hailed for at least 30 minutes to an hour. It was very unreal. Looking out side our window the streets were covered and the ground was covered the beating on everything was going on and on and on.
It looked almost like a snow covered ground.
I tried to take a photo but my camera wasn't wanting to focus in and flash in the darkness.
It was probably just me and in all the excitement of the moment just couldn't get my mind working right.

The next day everyone was out assessing damage on cars, thankfully our area wasn't hit as bad as some because there were not any cracked windshields but it looks like someone was pounding on the hoods of the cars. I am sure this is going to keep a lot of Auto Body Shops and Insurance companies busy for awhile.

A Hailstorn like this doesn't happen very often at all and I am thankful for that. I talked with our insurance agent and they said they started receiving phone calls at 3am that morning once the hailstorm was over from those too impatient to wait until morning to report their damages.

Keep your eyes on those storms.

Gardening

We are seeing green grass all over now and wow the splendor of the color! After the dull brown grounds of winter it is a refreshing time of new growth! The tulips are blooming and fields of Wheat are growing and looking so lovely and lush and green.

I remember many a day getting out in the garden with the shovel and the hoe, helping my Grandma on my mother's side of the family on her farm start clearing out the garden space and loosening up the soil to plant the seeds for the wonderful garden vegetables we would have later on in the summer! Yum Yum! Nothing like the feeling of tasting those super sweet garden tomatos and the super sweet cantaloupes!

Sitting and snapping green beans with my Grandma and Great Grandma was a fun time for me! I couldn't wait to start over the next day!

If you are thinking of planting a garden you should check out this deal at Henry Fields to get you growing- Save $20 off any $50 purchase of seeds or plants.

Samantha Where are you?

So if you are a child that grew up in the 70's with Bewitched and The Brady Bunch and all the great series of those times you might know what I mean when I say this.

I somewhat feel like the children of that generation were given such a false sense of hope for cleaning and getting everything in shape around the house,

Samantha could do it with a twinkle of her nose or snap her fingers and voila! Everything back in place......but here in the real world no way! When you have little ones running around your home you know exactly what I mean!

You can't just snap your fingers and everything put up instantly...lol Shame Shame Samantha even though we love ya!

4 Things to Think About Before Declawing your Cat

by: Hagar Lagarto

Declawing is a major surgery known as onychectomy, performed under anesthesia, that removes the tip of each digit (from the first knuckle out) of the cat's forepaws. There is a slight chance of death in the surgery, and a declawed cat may have an increased risk of infection and life-long discomfort in its paws. This surgery is not recommended for an adult animal and is considered an act of animal cruelty in some countries (see below).

Memory Techniques Tips

by: Simon Oldmann

ck!.Human Memory is one of the most important things in human knowledge, while memory techniques are not a new thing, the understanding of human memory has always been complicated.

Memory is not intelligence, the power of the mind to process and deduct is attributed to intelligence, but we do know that memory does have some part in assisting a powerful mind. All scientific disciplines are guided by many rules and equations, without memory even the most powerful mind would get lost in going back to the same basic ideas over and over again. Understanding is also linked to memory, it is a simple fact that once you understand some idea or concept you stand a better chance of remembering it.

Scrapbooking For Kids

by Dawn Stegall

As a homeschooling mom of 4 girls, scrapbooking for kids has been on my mind alot lately. Let me back up a bit. My 4 year old was quietly playing one day with a roll of stickers. Afraid I was going to later find a bunch of stickers caught in the carpet, I asked her what she intended to do with them. She pondered for awhile and then said, "I am going to put them in a scrapbook. Mom, can I have my own scrapbook?" For some reason, this caught me by surprise, as I thought how wonderful of an experience this could be! So, I started thinking about it more and have come up with some tips and ideas to share with you on scrapbooking for kids.

History of Candle Making

by: Coffee Man

Who invented the candle?

Candles were invented independently in many countries. The Egyptians and Cretans made candles from beeswax, about 3000 BC. In the fourth century BC there were clay candle holders in Egypt. Qui Shi Huang (259 - 210 BC) was the first Emperor of the Qin Dynasty (221 - 206 BC). His mausoleum was rediscovered in the 1990s 22 miles east of Xi'an in China and contained candles made from whale fat. In early China and Japan tapers were made with wax from insects and seeds, wrapped in paper. Wax from boiling cinnamon was used for temple candles in India.

Alternatively, dry skin could be results from genetic condition, poor diet especially deficiencies of vitamin A and the B vitamins, exposure to environmental factors such sun, wind, or aggressive usage of chemicals, cosmetics and excessive bathing with harsh soaps.
