Memorial Day
The time of the year has come for our Memorial Day celebrations,
Traditionally this is the time that we remember our loved ones and service men who
died for our country, we symbolize our love and remembrance by placing flowers on
the graves of those we remember.
I remember many times as a child visiting the cemetary with my parents and grandparents
as they put flowers upon the graves ot those that passed on before.
Alot of the flowers that will be placed out are Silk varieties that will last longer
but some will take a single fresh rose or a wrapped bunch of fresh flowers to the
dear departed. Even bouquets made with fresh flowers like you would see at a funeral
will be set out in baskets alongside the grave of the loved ones as they reflect on the
memories they shared with the dear loved ones.
This is also a big holiday for travel and family get togethers and backyard barbeques,
its the time when local swimming pools are opening and starting the summer season.
I expect the gas prices will rise a little this weekend as they always do on the holiday travel
weekends!
Alot of schools have their alumni and big class reunions during this weekend too.
Stores have big memorial weekend celebration sales giving you discounts on numerous items
to draw you in while most are getting to take a day off of work. So if you have your eye on
a bigger purchase this might be the weekend to get that special deal.
Online stores are also having sales so be sure to check the deals on Dealofday
Banks will be closed on monday and there will be no mail services running...
Take time to savour your moments with the ones you love and have a safe Memorial Weekend!
