Mother's Day

Mother's day is fast approaching. The time when we reverence mothers and grandmothers alike.
We send flowers, take them out to dinners, and pamper them royally for a day. We might cook
dinner forthem or clean their house. Lavish them with gifts, all with the hopes of
expressing our love to them in some manner.

I remember making our own card for my mom. Fixing her breakfast, and doing her chores for the day.
I am sure she appreciated it too. I think of the many mothers around the world and the different
lives they lead. some living in extravagance, some in poverty. Yet they are all mothers and have the
same desires for their children.

I always remember my mother telling me about the golden rule. Not to make fun of others who had
disabilities, and many other life lessons. I learned from an early age what my mom meant to me and how wise she really was.
We weren't well off, but we had a happy life. I remember saturday mornings watching cartoons and snuggling on my mom's lap
while she drank coffee and visited with grandma and granddad. I felt so safe.

A mothers love is a perfect thing. Unfading, enequivocal, and truest of true. Being a parent now I surely understand
so much more of what mom went through and how tough it can be at times. I am sure that if we all pondered on these things
how much our mothers enriched our lives. After all it was usually mom who encouraged us, wiped away tears, and kissed our
boo boos and made it feel better.
I hope you find time to spend with your mother this coming mother's day and celebrate what your mom has meant to you.
No other friend is like your mom. Kind and stern. Loving and sympathetic. Willing to listen and willing to lend advice.
Here's to the moms of the world who raised the children and made us who we are today.
